Walter woke up early, dressed, and went to the kitchen for breakfast, his mind racing with thoughts about the creatures and their programming. He wondered if the hro-94 robot was secretly observing him. The lab was his sanctuary for focus, and he decided to move the robots to another lab.

Susan was already at work absorbed in her work researching the potential of a rogue robot. Although she trusted her protocols the thought of them missing a bot was unsettling. Still, there had been no reported anomalies.

she decided to check in on walter as she normally did each morning. “Hi Walter, good morning,” she greeted him. Few things could distract her from her work, and her son was at the top of that list.

walter was deep in thought about his creatures, their coding and the strange interaction with the lab robot the day before.

As she spoke, an idea struck Walter: his creatures needed a slice of his mom’s code. A stream of code danced above his head as he began to imagine it despite his guilt over borrowing her work. Surely, she'd call it innovative. “Walter, can you hear me?” his mother asked. “What are you thinking about?”

barely acknowledging his mother he dropped his plate in the sink, eager to jot down his ideas while they were still fresh.

“Walter!” Dr. Cooper called after him as he vanished into his room.
